On graduation night, Mac is looking forward to attending college with his girlfriend and escaping his home life. After the graduation party is over, Mac walks back early in the morning hours. When he opens the front door, he witnesses his stepfather beating his mother. Mac reacts and nearly kills his stepfather with his bare hands.
Life takes an abrupt, new direction when the naïve Mac buys an old car and heads east alone for some unknown destination. He finds adventures, danger, humor, good times and loneliness.

Nice easy book to read. I gave the book four stars. I enjoyed the characters and all the adventures Mac experienced.
Did not know Mac until I read book. Now I know him well. I can testify the title is very appropriate. Although my life took a far different course than Mac, I can relate to events depicted and how their "uncharted course" changed his life. I was asked, if I could change anything in my life of 72 years, what would it be. To their surprise I answered, none, not one. I would not be where I am today if I had made the slightest change, So too for Mac. That is what life is, an uncharted course. Mr. Winney skillfully crafted a novel void of the typical action drama and dealt with life as it is, an uncharted course.
the story was ok, but the writing was very poor. I would put the grammar, punctuation and spelling on a middle school level.
Interesting story.
Mac is an interesting character. Reading this book reminds me of the innocence of growing up in the 50's and 60's. The story keeps moving and is a fast read.
Liked because it was a refreshing story from a simpler time of life.
I think it would appeal to an older generation who could relate.
Four stars because you never knew where the next turn would take you.
