As David said "or was a hard book to write" and I am here to confirm it was a hard book to read. As a RN formerly working in the ED, I have seen what contagious diseases can do and have read much of the professional literature on these horrible diseases that can mutant so fast it can be hard to treat (Ebola & Marburg). These descriptions are so acute I can visualize each of them. We waited to long to provide the critical assistance that was needed and then we faulted the initial hospital - it presents like the flu and it was an education process that was needed. I am a big fan of Robert Kennedy. I enjoy the way he ties the characters of Delta force with Dylan Kane and James Acton and enjoy all his books and get disappointed when they end. please keep them coming. It's time to write another Dylan Kane novel after the new James Acton book which I am reading now again enjoying it so much that I try not to read it too fast so I can keep enjoying it while hoping that the next adventure may be out before I am done with this book.
Kennedy maintains the fast paced style building on the Delta Force Bravo Team members from the James Acton series which I have enjoyed from day one. I like the action as well as the way he shows that Special Forces members are not just highly trained combatants but also able to see and understand the bigger picture. The use of Ebola as a weapon is a frighteningly real possibility that Kennedy deals with handily in this thriller full of twists and turns that keep you guessing. I remain a big fan.
Another homerun. When the hero's from Delta jump in and help out James Acton, or Dylan Kane it adds something to the story. But there is never enough of them in those books. Now that they are in their own book it is even better. Rob has done it again with this story line, at times it is a little hard to read but this is a story that needs to be told not only in the books of fiction but in real life also. There is a lot truth in what Rob is saying and we need to do something about. Like in the book the disease can be weaponized and somebody will.
The scene is first a hostage rescue mission in the US Then the scene is Africa and the Ebola pandemic. Command Sergeant Major Big Dog Dawson and his team are deployed to rescue the kidnapped daughter of the Vice President. Terrorists, casualties and preventing the Ebola virus from getting into the US are all part of this fast paced storyline, including some twists and turns along with a few surprises. The Team's principal characters are well defined ....look forward to book 2.
I loved the story in this book. Mr. Kennedy knows how to make the reader feel like he/she is in the story. I almost couldn't put it down.
I gave it a 5 star rating because he gives the characters life and makes the reader want to know more about them, at least for me it did.
I am a new fan of Mr. J. Robert Kennedy and just purchased 2 more of the Delta Force Unleashed Thrillers, one of them a free edition.

I have read all the James Acton, Delta Force and Dylan Kane novels. They are so much fun! I laughed, cried and paced the floors holding my pad to get thru. I highly recommend all these books. I write very few comments on books because I read quite a lot. You will not go wrong with these novels. The characters and action are so worth your time!! I love these characters so much (if you kill off Niner I will stop reading) you will adopt them they are so loveable. Buy all of them because you will not want to stop the adventure.
There are supposed to be twelve men on the team. I counted eleven. So who is the twelfth man? Temple, Rook or some guy as yet unnamed? Temple and Rook showed up in book 2 of the James Acton series and have never been mentioned again. One of them had to leave for Jagger to come along in book 4. One of life's little mysteries I thought might get solved when the Delta guys got their own book. Guess not.
Kennedy did finally give the other eleven guys full names. He gave us some background, tossed in some personal scenes to make the characters more real. No ages. (BD has to be in his early 40's. How long can these guys hold up?) No descriptions we don't already know, but that's okay with me. I've supplied my own.
This is the first book in the Delta Force series, but the guys had a book in the James Action series, Book 7, "The Circle of Eight."
