I really enjoyed this book. I want to rate it 4.25 stars but, when in doubt, round up! Honestly, it was well-written, subtle and detailed. I loved the author's take on two POV's of the same day and the change-up in the timeline of the stories. Well done. I look forward to more!
This is the second book I've read by this author. This was a fun, enjoyable, suspenseful read with mystery, magic and adventures of two main girl characters, including serial killers. Mary Susan is a "good samaritan", a wonderful girl that wants to help everyone. Mary Susan starts out her normal day, but it quickly becomes somewhat complicated. This story is told in Mary Susan's point of view the first half and the second half by Stefi Angel, Mary Susan's very hesitant on/off girlfriend. It is very well written and keeps your attention from the beginning to the last page. This was a very creative story. You get to know the characters and you can relate to them. If you enjoy a story with suspense, adventure and a bit of magic, you should definitely one-click this one. You won't be disappointed!
This book is not the genre I usually read, but I really enjoyed this book. The story caught my attention from the beginning and I started. And completed it in one day. I wanted to keep on reading to see what Mary Susan would get into next. I also enjoyed reading Stefi Angel's point of view of the same night. Can't wait to read the next story by Aurora Zahni.
This book is about a girl. One who lights up a room by being in it. Mary Susan is her name. She ends up being in the wrong place at the wrong time on one very long night for her. This book is a wild ride. Lots going on.
What a fantastic adventure this is. Stefi Angel and Mary Susan are two of my favorite characters. Stefi Angel gets a kick in the pants to get over herself for once and stop being afraid of what she wants. Mary Susan just needs a glimmer of hope for the future and gets enough adventure to last a lifetime. The timeline keeps you on your toes wondering what is going to happen next/what has already happened. Once again the author weaves characters and clues from other books perfectly. You don't need to have read any previous books to understand this, but it is fun if you have. I actually would recommend reading the books in reverse order, starting with this one.
What a fantastic and fun adventure this turned out to be. I loved the free spirited Mary Susan and Stefi Angel who is a big shot basketball player at her college. These two girls are have an on again off again relationship due to Stefi Angel's wandering ways. This book keeps you guessing what has happened or what is going to happen next which I really loved. Aurora Zahni gives you a little of it all in this book serial killers, star crossed lovers, magic tea, angry mob, psychic, binkies ( which I totally want to try one one these) and so much more!!! This book exceeded my expectations! I really didn't know what to expect going into reading this, but I totally got more than I bargained for! I cannot wait to read all of Zahni's other books!
The Island and the Kite is an interesting mix of particularly weird day in the life of two very different young women who happen to have an off and on relationship together. Mary Susan has a day off and goes into the city to watch a movie and gets stranded overnight while a serial killer is on the loose. Steffi Angel is home from college and trying to dump her girlfriend (or is she even her girlfriend) and runs an errand for her brother and sees Mary Susan by chance. The characters you meet are interesting, and the outcome is sweet, and I think this is another weird yet incredible book by a talented author.
If you like a a real, yet offbeat read... then this book would be perfect for you.
