This book, as well as others by the same author, is a very enjoyable read. It’s not for everyone. It’s a long book. But it’s written in a different time when writing skills were different than today. Not bad, just different. Some of the words or phrases may carry a different meaning in today’s world. Seems there’s always at least one person that speaks as though they’re not properly educated but the author hits the backwoods sound right on in her skills. Some may think the book is too drawn out. The story could be shortened and still carry the same story line without losing anything but the story was not mine to write so I choose to just enjoy it as it is. Some of the events could seem a bit incredible but then again, maybe not. I’ll continue reading all books by this author that are available.Product details

A wonderfully enjoyable story!
Enjoyed, as I do like the old books. No curssing and no immoral scenes in majority of those public domain books
Story of a dead woman and her loss to her family and misidentification of her own child. Easy, but a long read.
What a wonderful book. Got this for a kindle present, and they absolutely loved it.
They said it was a great mystery story, and was written well. They will read more from this author.
I would definitely recommend this to a friend or a family member.
It was not difficult, from very early in the story, to figure out who Jerrie really was. However, the characters are well written and create very vivid pictures in one's mind. They are quirky, flawed, and very real. Although I knew early on the basic outcome for the main characters, I like how the writer wrapped up the story line for all of the other characters - although, again, none totally unexpected. The book contains many messages for the reader - actually more reminders on how to treat others, on the importance of people and relationships over money, and on forgiveness. I found this book to be an easy, relaxing, and enjoyable read, without many of the trappings of today's mainstream novels - most notably unnecessary language and explicit romance scenes. I look forward to reading more books by this author.
As usual, she tells a good story. I like that she contrasts greedy values and solid character. Clean writing and appropriate for all ages
If you like moderately sentimental Victorian fiction, such as works of Louisa May Alcott, L.M. Montgomery, etc., you will probably enjoy this story. It takes place in a small New England town, which is portrayed as an ordinary kind of place, with petty quarrels and simple pleasures, which encounters a gothic type of mystery. The author skillfully integrates these seemingly incompatible genres, paces the mystery well, and gives an unusually sensitive (for any era!) portrait of a person suffering from mental illness.
